downloading files from a file server

Right, i've set up a web server using apacher...all is working fine. However i'm using the same server as a file server, i've enabled directory listing so that i can download the files i have in certain folders wherever i am. I am able to list the files however when i click the files an error says file cannot be found...the files is there...

can anyone help?

What type of file? What happens if you right-click and 'Save as' (or 'Save target')?

it is an mp3 file...

It says the same thing...file cannot be found

Try changing the file permissions with 'chmod 644 /path/to/files'.
