We have created a stacked report (one grid report on top of another, with the second header removed) via a document and modification of XSL. This document displays properly in MSTR Web, but we would like to enable a download to Excel when users click on the report.

For a standard grid report, download to Excel is built-in. However, I understand that a document is basically a gif, so downloading to Excel requires heavy customization. Can you think of any workarounds? How much work does this require, in terms of modifying ASP and such?

I know that I can create a new Excel template in NarrowCast and place the report on the subscription portal. However, we want to see this in MSTR Web. Perhaps this also echoes nlim's wish for better NarrowCast and Web integration...

We're on 7.2.1. The stacked reports consist of two grid reports that cannot be made into a single grid report.

Thanks,
Dennis

you need a way to script a browser "save as", with a type of ".xls". When you save a html page with a name like "test.xls", then excel will be the default viewer and your stacked report should work....

This works out of the box (assuming that your XSL is clean). Just make sure that the user preferences to export a Document is set to HTML.

2 cents,
FLB
