Downloading an Icon to your Desktop or in Systray

I have a client that would like to provide his customers who access his web site to be able to download an Icon to their desktop or into their systray that would contain the URL to his site. That way they could simply click of the Icon in the furture to reach his site. (Similar, to adding his site to their favorites list or bookmarking it.) I hate to reinvent the wheel if it has been invented. All and any help would be appreciated.

with ie (dont know about netscape) you can drag the address to the desktop to create a shortcut.
