We are developing a website, that requires the downloading of an .exe file. When the link is clicked, it takes an absolute age for the server to actually do anything, if at all. When this file is changed to a .zip file, it will start to download immediately. Does anyone know what to do, other than turn it into a .zip file, to allow for the file to be downloaded ?

Downloading a .exe

Turn off any active virus scanners prior to download.
Any virus scanner will attempt to scan the .exe before download, instead of just getting the darn thing. Cheers,
