Downloadable Outlook Files

I'm working on a website that will hold address and contact information in a database. I know how to create an Excel (.xls) file on the fly to make it downloadable by the users on the site. I would like to offer other formats though.

Does anyone know how to make downloadable files for any of the following, so that users can import information into their programs for use?

Outlook
Outlook Express
Thunderbird

alternatively you could generate a suite of vCard files (supported at least by outlook)
