Is there a place to download a trial version of veritas LVM?

I would like to learn it...

What about the license ? Do you get some sort of trial license ?

I don't see any downloads for Solaris.

Dandan123:

If you have an old SSA or A5000/A5100/A5200 you can load the packages without a license.

A couple fo the packages within the bundle require a license so you will not be able to load all of them.

You can load without license;

VRTSvxvm
VRTSvmdoc
VRTSvmman
VRTSob
VRTSobgui
VRTSfspro

Thanks

Hi CA,

The packages you've mentioned which do not require a license require that you have a one of the disc arrays you mentioned right ?

What's SSA ?

It is an old array.. Sparc Storage Array. If you do not have one don't bother looking for one.

I had bought an A5000 with 125GB of storage from ebay for $125.00 last year. I use it at home for testing purposes. I was able to pick it up so I did not have shipping charges. It is a heavy beast, especially with the drives in.

Thanks CA

Mag0007;

Sorry can't help you on that. If you are good friends with someone maybe they can let you borrow it(not that I ever do this, he he) in order to install it.I checked the link provided in this post earlier and did not see it for Solaris.

CA, so where do I get the gbic and cable ? Will these be expensive ?

Where do I get VxVM once I have the array ? Also am I correct in understanging that once VxVM sees this array it does not need a license for the modules you listed ?

Hmm... you might have to give Veritas a call and tell them you want to evaluate their Solaris product.

Yes I am positive that you can run veritas without a license as I am currently running 3.5 at this time no license.

As far as the cable part# 537-1004 I found for 50.00 on the web today.

The fibre card will run you a bit more, fortunately I did alot of extra work for a company who went out of business and had given me a few things for free so I saved there.

The card I have is a pci fibre part#375-0040 (which goes in an ultra60) quick check today showed people selling it for 300 or so. I would watch ebay for deals, amazing what I have found there. You need to make sure whatever system you have supports the fibre and check what cards you can use. Some are sbus and some are pci.

thanks

CA
