Download only new messages in Outlook

Outlook 2000 allows you to leave messages on server for POP3 email settings. Is there a way to download only new messages? We have users who have laptops and desktops, and if you use the Internet email service, you can either pull off all the messages from the server or leave them all on. If you do leave them, Outlook wants to re-download all of the messages. Is there a way to only download new messages?

I would recommend you to use a feature in Outlook called Remote Mail. In this feature you have for example the option to download only unread e-mail. You may also download the headers for all e-mails and then mark which e-mails to be downloaded.

The thing that drives me nuts is that Outlook Express has the exact functionality I'm looking for but Outlook 2000 does not.

Again: Am I missing something? Does Outlook 98 have the features I'm looking for?
