I was just browsing my website using Mozilla on Red Hat Linux and I noticed that some of my java applets aren't showing up. I'd like to have a means for the user to download and install Java to their machine so the applet will run. Right now, I don't have any means for doing this.

I think the applets were actually written for MS Java VM and the author is recommending that I use this, but I'm pretty sure (but not certain) that MS doesn't make a version of VM for Linux.

Can somebody tell me what the codebase attributes should be for the object tag that will download and install Java for Linux, or otherwise advise me on what I should do?

The last time i read the sun Java Plug-In FAQ (don't remember how long ago it was), it stated that it did not officially support Mozilla (yet) so you may want to go check it out. It might be changed by now.
