download all windows update (service pack)

is posible download all the windows updates or service pack for windows 98 se,

i try download from windows update option, but, when is for about 66%, the ie goes down, and stop the update...

thank´s for any help.....

It sounds like you have a problem with IE Windowas Update. If you scan through this forum you will find info on problems with updating.

you should be able to find one on a pc magazine cover disc / dvd. They've nearly always got the sp1 on them

On the Microsoft site you have two options for the SP1a download : one is via Windows Update, one is the Network Install.
The second option gives you one ~130MB download.

and choose Network Installation.

Hi, Sitmapa,

Have a look at this page in the MS KB - "Windows Update Troubleshooter"

Scroll down to the bottom where you will see "Scan Freezes at 66% on Windows 98 then you see a winspool.drv error (spoolss.dll)"

If you are using McAfee AV as well, then this is for you.

Hi, Sitmapa,

If you have problems with the versions of spollss.dll and McAfee, and still can't get the Update to run its course, then boot to the DOS prompt and enter

CD C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
REN SPOoLSS.DLL SPOOLSS.OLD

and then enter
WIN

Windows wil kick off about not being able find SPOOLSS.DLL but just keep clicking OK until the messages stop.

The Windows Updater will now work.

When all the updates have been installed and the PC has rebooted, rename SPOOLSS.OLD back to SPOoLSS.DLL in Explorer and reboot.

my great problem.....

i go to windows update option from start menu, and then, start the process of scann...

windows update is finding the updating available 66% complete...
and then goes down, showing the message box," Microsoft IE has been detect problem and must be to close"

and then restart the ie ....

the computer have norton av 2003, not have McAfee ,


some help will be apreciate,,,

sitmapa - did u try site I suggested? Also, try using a download manager - there's plenty of free ones (Google - eg, Leechget).
