downgrading agent licenses

Has anyone successfully performed the scenario in the following thread: thread959-845221

I know that the sccs software must be loaded as a new install versus a migration. However, can't I just then perform a database restore from the backup done on the old server. In my case, both the old and new servers will be at sccs 5.0 SU06 SUS0601. We can't be the only site that needs to keep their stats but decrement agent licenses.

Just like all of Nortel software, whether its pbx, cp or sccs...you cannot downgrade, the system will not let you.

what you want to do isn't possible, maybe on release 6?

basically you're installing a new server with less agent position but want to restore a db which contain licensing info for more position...not going to happen
