I have a customer that wants to continue to use 5610 telephones for another year with a new IP500. If 10.1 PLDS licenses are purchased can the system be downgraded to 9.1? I am aware another option would be to purchase 9.1 PLDS licenses with IPOSS and upgrade at a later date but the preference is to purchase 10.1 so all that will be needed in the future is a simple software upgrade without new licenses. I have downgraded systems from 9.x to 8.x, 8.x to 7.x, etc. in the past but those were ADI license. Just wondering if PLDS changes anything.

PLDS licenses work on 9.1 and 10 so there should be no reason why the system cannot be downgraded to 9.1

But you can't downgrade a PLDS license, so it might not work.
The PLDS licenses will be licensed for 10, depends if IPO 9.1 accepts it or not.

If it helps, I've got a customer with quite a few 5610 phones on 10.0 and they're working just fine. We recently took them to 500 V2 hardware from ancient 500 V1's.

Thanks for the info. I will give it a try before delivering to customer. As far as the question "why?", 56xx phones are not supported on 10.0 and up. I am aware they may work but this customer is 3 hours away and I don't want to have to deal with issues that far away when they could have been prevented. I have seen 54xx phones on 10.x work also, but then they suddenly lose functionality.

We are slowly migrating our 56xx phones to newer phones.
I'm on an SE with R 10.1
I have a mix of 56xx, 96xx and 16xx phones. (and SIP)
I have 64xx phones in a test environment.
I don't have any issues.
There's a warning in Manager, that's it.

There is no reason for the 56xx phones won't work, they do well on several systems running 10.1
Only some features are missing like the phone menu,s and phonebook but a lot of users never use those features.
