Anybody knows a good way to downgrade TL or SP on AIX?

mksysb restore seems to be the only way these days because some filesets seem to get committed even if you specify to only apply the update.

If the TL or SP has been installed with COMMIT=NO you may be able to reject applied but not comitted ptfs, but it's still not sure it will downgrade all the packages.

If the SP or TL level comes from a complete installation I think there is no supported way to downgrade a complete SP or TL.

ibm doesn't support rejecting the TL level but I think you can APPLY an SP level and reject it without issue.

my recommendation is look into using alt_disk_install when applying TL upgrades so you have an easy backout if something goes wrong..

we usually break the rootvg mirror and keep the older version of aix handy for a week after the upgrade in case of complaints/issues.
