Planning an upgrade a Server Edition (2 servers 8 gateways) from 11.0.4.4 to 11.1.0.2 wanted to give 11.1.1.1 a bit more time. Upgrade process seems clear enough, but need to document the rollback procedure also. I guess to downgrade a server is just produce the 11.0.4.4 install media as "auto install" and reboot the server, then restore the 11.0.4.4 backup. Our IP500v2 gateways are not all easily accessible, upgrade using Web Manager looks fine, but if one doesn't work what is the best way to rollback that gateway remotely, and if required same thing with site visit.

Sure hope you upgraded to 11.0.4.5 first before 11.1....
Are these virtual machines? You're better off creating brand new virtual machines at 11.1.1.1 and then migrating config/files.

Still in the planning stage but the 11.0.4.5 step is on my list, they are Avaya supplied servers R230, but more interested in the IP500v2 and stepping that back.

Like I say this is jus planning but if you upgraded the servers all ok and maybe even a couple of gateways using the Web Manager, then one gateway maybe had issues after the upgrade what is the process to back just that gateway out?

Manager won't let you up- or downgrade a server edition via the upgrade manager.

derfloh
do you mean via WebManager and the upload of the usual .iso ?

So my plan is upgrade the 2 servers, manual says Secondary first, upgrade to 11.0.4.5 using ISO through Web Manager, test (check Media Manager etc.), install from USB 11.1.0.2. Once servers are done use the web manager to upgrade the IP500v2 Gateways (8 of them, 6 at remote locations). I get if there is an issue with the servers, run install of 11.0.4.4 from USB and restore the backup taken at the start.

Only question is if everything is good on servers and some of the gateways but have a problem with one gateway how to reset it back to 11.0.4.4 and restore DB, and try again? The DB will be backed up on a Virtual Application Server (11.1.1.0) that is just used for http backups.
