I am trying to downgrade an HP Pavilion DV6000 from Vista Business 32-bit to XP Pro. I have an OEM XP Pro CD, but when I boot from the CD, I eventually get a message that says "Setup did not find any hard disk drives installed in your computer. Make sure any hard disk drives are powered on and properly connected to your computer, and that any disk-related hardware configuration is correct. This may involve running a manufacturer-supplied diagnostic or setup program. Setup cannot continue. To quit Setup, press F3."...........I am very confident that there is nothing wrong with the hard drive considering I can boot and install Vista using the System Restore DVDs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Simple:

when XP prompts (at the beginning when it loads the setup) for F6 to load drivers, then hit F6 to load the SATA drivers that it needs to find the HDD that is installed in the machine...

I would first, do an inventory of the hardware that is installed, then gather all the drivers you will need for XP... it will save you lots of trouble in the long run, and headaches...

PS: check the BIOS if there is a compatibility mode for the SATA drive (where it would be recognized as IDE)...

Following some of the links from here might be of interest?

Thanks BadBigBen. I pressed F6 and inserted a floppy with Intel SATA drivers and it worked.

Glad to have you ontrack...

do read the link that Linney pointed to, it is very informative...
