Hi

I am working on CS3 at work and i want to bring work home with me where I am running CS2. I was told to export and save my file as inx file and it would open at home..... it does, but the images are all missing (understandably as the images are linked to the computer at work)

is there a way around this so that i can see the images at home by packaging the document together in some way, so the links are not needed?

help :D

I think you can just package the InDesign file like normal. Then just save the the same document as a .inx or .idml file. Copy your packaged files (usually in a folder) onto your home computer. When you open your .inx file you should be able to re-link all the packaged images to the .inx file and then re-save the document in CS2.

...inx and idml formats remove image previews, so you will need the linked images to update the artwork.

...also be aware that downsaving and opening in lower versions of indesign can remove functions/effects that the lower version of indesign doesn't support. This is subject to how the source artwork is built in the higher versions of indesign.

Check with your employer and the software license for your software. The common Adobe retail license allows the primary user (if your employer deems that is you) to install the software at home as well.
