In the past, when I click for example on the word "yahoo" in the selection covers only the word yahoo.
Since I don't know when and after what, it does not work like this anymore. The double click selects the whole thing.

I would like to have it as it was before.
I think it is practical to quickly select between the www. and the .com to switch to another web page which most likely would be starting with ending .com anyway.

Any idea how to have this 'feature' back again?

Thanks

I assume that you're referring to Internet Explorer's address bar. If so, I can confirm the behavior you're seeing in IE6, but never really noticed it working the other way. One thing that you can do however is to just type the domain name, then hold the CTRL key when hitting Enter - IE & Firefox will fill in the [ignore] & .com[/ignore] (In Firefox Shift+Enter will do .net also)

You are right. Sorry I did not mention IE 6 I am talking about.
I like your hint, but I'd still like to have this possibility to double click select the middle word:
1- in case I am dealing with other ends than .com
2- Not to have to use both hands, in some cases.

Anybody knows about this change? How it happened and how to get it back?

IE 7 Beta 3 acts exactly as you desired: a double click highlights only a word.

Good! That really makes more sense, I think.

Thus instead of returning to a past version feature, I'll get it from a later version.

Thanks, bcastner, for this information.

Cheers
