How do a have dots in address? RedHat 9 will not allow me to have dots in usernames. I have a client that wants to have john.doe@mydomain.com.

Edit /etc/aliases and add john.doe as an alias for the user in question. Then run /usr/bin/newaliases to update the alias db.

That should solve your problem. For more information, see the manpage for aliases.
