Need to replace a dot matrix printer with a laser jet,ink jet, any quieter printer. Anyone know of any that work on serial port.(tty port from opt 81c)

I have never tried them, but I have seen serial to parallel converters for printers. Our switch/server room is already so noisy that the added noise from our dot matrix printer has never been a problem.

You could also set up a computer to capture the data from the TTY port. I have thought about doing that to save paper.

A used PC running only Procomm is cheaper than a dedicated printer. Every place I've managed - no TTY - just a PC with a real serial port.

If you have OTM / TM with a Ethernet link, then you can use the data buffering access and the CDR Inport excel program to list out your data. It's free!.

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

you can add a parallel to the dunb term, i used to pull the serial card out of the dot matrix printers on all my installs back in the day..

zero reason not to replace the dumb term with a pc.. even the oldest pc on your netwk is tem time faster then your dumb term
