Hi,

I have DOS program which use COM1 port to transmit data. It is not working on XP but works fine on W98 and W95. Any idea why COM port is acting differnet in XP, what can I change and where? I tried all standard things, change speed, parity, stop bit ...

Thanks,
Laki.

Since XP is built on the NT kernel, and NT doesn't like programs taking direct control of hardware, I'd say that's the issue.

You might see if your COM program has a setting for a non-hardware port, otherwise see if there's a windows version of the DOS program you're trying to run.

What would happen if you ran this DOS program in the Compatibility Mode of Windows 95 or 98?
