Dos printing

In a windows 98se pc I print from a dos-based program to a network LJ4100 printer it prints fine. Closing the program and then trying to print to another printer from a windows base program doesn't work unless I reboot the pc?
Any suggestions?

It sounds like the DOS program is keeping control of the port. You could try running the program by exiting to DOS, run the program and then return to Windows.
