Hi all,

I have a user who has managed to mess up his PC's ability to run bat files, which is a critical function to us.

When you run the files from windows, it asks for a program with which to associate the bat files, whereas normally it would execute the file itself. Furthermore, in Windows Explorer, a bat files normally shows as an 'MS-DOS Batch file', whereas now it shows as a 'bat' file!

Does anyone have any idea how to change this back. I've spent an hour on it and am clueless thus far.

Thanks in advance.

You can choose which exetentions XP regards as executable.

1. Right-click "My Computer" and select properties
2. Under the "Advanced" tab, open "Enviromental Variables"
3. In the lower box, edit "PATHEXT" and add BAT to the list

I'm not sure this will do it.

Good Luck
