So, I put in a Panasonic doorphone system so that when a visitor comes to the door, pushes the doorphone intercom, the receptionist answers (or anyone in the distribution group), and lets the person in by pressing OPEN or 5. Sweet deal to me, especially when the receptionist of out or on lunch (others can operate the door).

Unfortunately, our receptionist doesn't like the idea that ... if she has a caller on her phone, and someone is standing at the door that she knows, she has to put the caller on hold to open the door. And she has to do the same thing if someone uses the intercom.

Other than installing a separate button to open the door switch relay, is there a way to unlock the door switch without interrupting a call?

No, Put a second 8 key phone on the desk and set to ring for door and intercom calls if she is on a call.

Thanks, OBT! That's exactly what I did! I piggy-backed it on her current set and set it up as a wall phone just for the door/intercom. :) I was just curious if there was another option.

Thanks,

Yeah, WhiteGooner ... I got that. But she still would need to put the caller on hold to get a line to dial *5501.
I set up an 8-button set for her with a preprogrammed *5501 button and put it in a dist group. Works like a charm! Thanks...
