Hi all,
we have a policy of not supporting full system restores...so what is the point of the Shadow Copy Components? I want to disable backing them up on every windows machine. Anyone know how to do this?

Why not back them up anyway's? That part of the backup is small enough that it's not going to make much difference.

well it may make a difference if your backing up say over 300 clients

Just because the VERITAS documentation states a certain thing does not make it a fact and that is truth.

I don't know the answer unless you do not use ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES and specifically list only the D, E or whatever drive you use for data.

1. open the netbackup administration console
2. expand the host properties
3. select the client from the client area
4. Open the properties for the client
5. expand the windows client +
6. select exclude lists
7. click add under the exclude list (you can select which policies are relevant)
8. under the files/directorys add "Shadow Copy Components:\" no quotes

I think you also need to turn off both (2) vss services on the client or you may get an error
