Can someone please tell me the difference between a query and a view?

Basically Queries are read only (but can be change to read/write with a lot of work). Views are read/write.

To add to the first answer, Queries (updatable or not) are disconnected from the original data - changes (when possible) are only reflected in the resultant cursor/table/array. Views on the other hand, if any or all fields are defined to be updatable, and that data is changed in the view, then the original table(s) are updated.
