Don't Summarize Values checkbox - Chart Expert

I've been trying to create a line chart or and XY chart but whenever I fill in the Data tab of the Chart Expert, the checkbox that says "Don't Summarize Values" is always greyed out. The only other posting I could find related to this implied that it could only be used with integer data, which seems less than useful. Is this the case or does anyone have any idea why this is happening for me? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

i had the same problem. i basically created a new formula using the field and add that formula to design the graph, if you do that then you can able to tick the don't summarize box.
