Don't Reload Header 2

I just got a huge help from khat at:

in trying to get the main menu out to one single place.

Now, I was wondering something else.

When I program a form in Access, I use an unbound subform, then set that unbound subform to various other forms when the user clicks on the links. Isn't there a way to do this with HTML as well?

Where basically the header does not reload on every page, but rather just the content below the header reloads?

There's frames. I however would not go down that route.

The only way to do this is with framesets or iframes.

Why not go down this route? Doesn't it make pages load faster? What are the downsides?

Or Ajax, but it's probably not worth going down that route if the amount of data is more than the amount of data in the header.
