Good day, I have our old email server (NT4, Exchange 5.5) and am donating it to an organization in our area that provides PCs and small networks for kids. I am not familiar enough with Exchange to know what folders to wipe out in order to remove all of office's emails and other private information. This is probably a snap for you guys out there, so can someone tell me which folders and any other areas I should empty/delete? Thanks a bunch,
Michele

The Exchange database files are called pub.edb and priv.edb, however, I would not just delete them, but look for a file shredder tool on the internet, then format the drive.

Depends on how sensitive your data is. (If really sensitive, remove the hard drive and keep it. They can get a replacement fairly cheaply!)

If you have a copy of Norton AV or something similar I would format the drives using the Erase tool.

Remember when you click "Delete" it does not delete things merely tells the disk drive that that sector can be over written if it needs to be.

I would personally erase the data say 6/7 times (leave running over night) then depending if you are supplying it:

With OS - Wipe drives and do a clean install (don't forget to donate the license!)
Without OS - Start installing say Win2k / WinNT and just format the drive then abort installation.

If you want the technicals of how do to this then just repost and help will come a flooding!
