We have Lotus Domino/Notes 6.5 and lotus clients. The directory listing of users at the server and in client address book shows 'last name first' name format. Is there a way to change this format?

Our users are asking me they like the addresses to be listed 'first name last name'format.

I could not find anything which helps this in the Domino Administrator.

Please help.

There isn't anything. It is a design issue.
The names are listed as such in the Names.NSF file of the server because the view that lists them was made that way. This is something that Lotus has done since forever, at least as far as I know.
So, unless you want to go in and change the design, there is nothing you can do about it.

Oh, just one more thing : it is REALLY strongly unadvisable to change any view in the server's Names.NSF. Add one if you wish, but changing "stock" views can land you in a lot of trouble real quick if you don't know exactly what you are doing and what the consequences are.

And if you add a new view, in this case it won't help the lookups at all, since they will remain based on the stock view.

In short, I think your users will just have to live with it. Besides, they can always type the first name in their SendTo field and press Return. Normally, Notes will try to match when it can.

Pascal.

It is fixed by editing the design.

Details:
opem PeopleGroupsFlat from views and change Firstname with lastname and lastname with Firstname.

Make sure you have help from someone who knows about designer. It is very easy to damge the system design with any small mistake.
