Domino Database Conversion

We are in the process of integrating a small company (300+ employees) into our corporate network structure. We are running Exchange/Outlook, while they are using Notes/Domino. The Notes/Domino servers will be going away eventually. They have a large number of Domino databases. My question is, what applications can Domino databases be converted to, and how much trouble should we expect to have.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

If mail is the only application Notes/Domino are used for then there is not much difficulty there.

If it is being used for applications (email is just an application built on the Lotus Notes/Domino application environment) then you will not have a lot of luck. Maybe you could use the web server to output html and hav a web designer convert them to html apps?? If they are very simple apps they can probably be re-written as fast as "converted".

Be very careful. Notes is an application environment that often "comes in under the radar" due to the ability to rapidly develop specialist business applications. You may find some divisions do not even know they need them until you pull the plug.

We added a company into ours recently, bringing their exchange mail into domino; this is actually straight forward through the user of the built in conversion tools within notes (We had someone trying and charge thousands to move over the users; I did it in a weekend, and he was going to use the same tool!). Just make sure that you do a few trial conversions to ensure you are happy with the converison and make sure to install your notes client with the conversion tools.
