Domain to standalone authentication

I have a webserver that runs as a standalone webserver. I have another server which is in my domain. I have a program which needs to read logfiles on the standalone server but I am unable to access the network share. I created an account on the webserver with rights to the share and the ntfs directory and created an account with the same name on the domain server and used that account on the service which accesses the directory on the standalone webserver. Is there anyway of achieving this can I add the machine account to the standalone webserver? Any help would be appreciated it is urgent.
