I have a quick question. We have registered a domain, and we have our exchange server that we will be putting online shortly. Well the domain service we used to register with is currently providing our email. My question is, if I change the mx server ip that the register has on record to our office ip, where we will be hosting our exchange server, will that be all thats required for us to start sending and recieving email through our domain name, without having to use there mail service?

That will get email sent to you. You'll need a mail connector on the Exchange server which will do the sending and receiving and the firewall will need port 25 routing through to the Exchange server too.

Thank you thats all I needed to know. As far as the firewall and everything, I already new about all that and had the exchange mail connector setup.

Technically, the Connector sends, and the SMTP Virtual Server receives! :)

Make sure you've got an appropriate reverse DNS entry as well, or you might find a lot of remote servers bouncing your mail.
