Gentlemen:

I have a W2K server with Win98 clients. Recently the clients are getting the "No domain server was availble to validate..." when loging on to the server. However, selecting OK, loading continues - everything is as the client is logged on to the server - mapped drives, rights, network resources, everything's available. This message seemed to be an intermittent problem, now it is on every client, each login. This network has been in place with the same settings for 1.5 years, but no problems with login until now. Hardware appears to be fine - no NIC errors. Makes no difference who logs in or with what rights. DNS looks fine, WINS is as it always has been. I'm stumped with this one. Any help is appreciated.

98 will default to WINS to find a DC so it's likely that may be the culprit (I know you said it looks fine...). Do you have a backup WINS server you can point a couple of clients to? Or maybe, bring up another WINS server from scratch, let it gather some info for a while, then point one of your desktops at it and see what happens...

I forgot to add - that I can VPN to the server with no problems. The w2k is a fresh install - about 1.5 years old. Something would have had to become "corrupted" in the last few weeks. Could it be something from a trust relationship?
