My client has two W2k3 servers. One is a domain controller and the other is a member server.

On the member server, if I open computer management, local groups and double click a group, I only see the server name in 'from this location'. If I click 'locations' to select the domain (or entire directory), it is not listed. The only thing listed is the local server name.

The same thing happens when trying to edit the local security policy. I need to add an account from active directory and can't.

If I open my network places, I can see the domain controller. I have verified that the member server is actualy a member of the domain. I have also verified that the DNS server listed is the domain controller.

Please advise if you can!

Thanks

name resolution issue, did ur member server DNS pointing to the DC DNS?

Yes. I'm not onsite right now but I beleive the DNS settings on the member server contain the IP for the DC.

ok, if you are pretty sure the member server is pointing DC for preferred DNS, that's fine.

next, i guess security channel is borken, instead of reset the SC, you may disjoin that member server and rejoin to the domain. how about that?
