Actually, yes, you can. Just not globally.
If you have a local DNS, you can set up any domain you want on it. But it will only affect local lookups because it is not the authoritative name server for the domain name. Any machine that does not use your DNS directly will not get your data -- other DNSs will get the real authoritative name server from the root servers, and get the data from the right source.
You can also play games on a machine-by-machine basis by editing local hosts files. ______________________________________________________________________
