Domain Name Issues

I have a domain called schools.net.

There are two schools that fall under schools.net: School1 and School2

I am working at School1 while doing this scenario:

When I log into a desktop, I join it to schools.net and it joins successfully. After the reboot, I go to log in, and the only thing listed in the domain list is a domain name called school38. I can log into school38 with my schools.net account and it is fine. When I go to the my computer properties page, it says that I belong to schools.net. So, I went to the PDC and when I went to log in there only school38 was listed in the logon screen. I log in to school38 and launch AD users and computers and the domain name that is listed is schools.net. I looked under domains for any child domains and nothing is listed. Sites and services only shows schools.net as well.

This is occurring at the other school but a different domain name to log into…that one is school100. The two schools AD do not see each other as well so I can not see the users over at school2.

I am thinking that a migration was done from and old domain called school38 but there were problems…..any idea on how to get the domain names squared away, because once I do that I need the two schools to be able to see each other which could send AD into a replication tizzy.

Sounds to me like both schools AD was built with schools.net as the domain independent of each other and the domain netbios name was purposely distinguished differently as school38 and school100. I dont think i would ever introduce these two domains to each other.
