The users I support are mostly low level, so requiring them to supply the domain information as part of their logon is not ideal. For instance, typing username: jdoe, password: password results in the server responding that the username "sharepointservername\jdoe" and password were not valid. "sharepointservername" is not the domain that the user has an account with, it's with our "networkdomain" (these are jsut examples). So I'm wondering if there's a way we can have "sharepointservername\jdoe" become "networkdomain\jdoe" by default when jdoe just types "jdoe" in at the logon prompt.

Thanks and regards,

Kyle

Hello,

I do not think that you can configure it like that. Atleast not if you are using Windows Integrated Authentication in the IIS (which is the recommended auth. to use).
If you are using basic authentication you can set a default domain and default realm, which will allow you to set your networkdomain as the default, and users will only have to type the "jdoe" part. But passwords and usernames will be sent in clear text over the network if you switch to basic authentication, so it is NOT recommended!

We have configured our users in our AD to use their e-mail address when they login to their workstations, that also works with sharepoint. So if looking at a user in AD userlogon name is equal to mailaddress and Pre windows2000 logon is DOMAIN\username.

Regards,
Thomas
