What is the best method if you want to migrate users from one domain to another.

Things to consider:
Adding network printers
Creating default desktop with standard shortcuts
Mapped network drives
Re-configure Outlook
Users documents

1: Windows Print Migration Tool
2: Group Policies to handle this:3: Login Script specified in Group Policies
2008, but will give you idea
4: Use ExMerge within Exchange
5: Windows has a File migration tool
6: User accounts - ADMT -

Thanks for the links. The new domain dc's are already in place. All i need to do is to migrate the users to the new domain. I want to keep all their profile settings without reconfiguring the desktops and applications. I know of the regedit trick but i dont have Domain Admin rights on the new domain.

ADMT and turn on SID History. This will make your life go smoothly. You need rights in both domains and a full two way trust with working DNS.
