I am installing Exchange in a small office. They use swbell.net for their email. We configured each POP account in exchange to receive their email. How do I configure outgoing email so that the proper domain is attached in the from field? Can I use SMTP for sending directly from the server and have the 'from' domain read 'swbell.net'? Any help is greatly appreciated.

If you use the server to send mail, it will use the DEFAULT SMTP address to send (yourdomain.com), specified by the default recipient policy. (You can override this per user if you have more then one domain).

I assume(?) that swbell.net is their ISP account, not their own?
If so, do NOT specify swbell.net in the default policy!!!
Any mail send to that domain will not go out!

If they do not have their own domain name, define the Default policy as somedomain.lan or so.

Per user, add a second SMTP address (joe@swbell.net) and make that the default SMTP address, and that one will be used to send.
