In Win2003 I could just look in the event viewer and see them. I thought I enabled it on win2008 via GPO but I either don't know where to look for those events or its not really enabled.

Can someone help me out?

Are you not seeing them in Event Viewer in the Security Log?

Keep in mind that in Windows 2008 there are a number of additional new logs, but what you want should be in Event Viewer --> Windows Logs --> Security.
