What exactly is Domain Lock? I understand you can use it to protect your website domain from being stolen. Can it be used to secure the content on your website as well?

Are there any pros to not using domain lock?

No, it's nothing to do with content or even the website per se. It's a lock on the domain name information put on by the domain registrar to prevent changes being made to the DNS information and prevent transfer out of that registrars control.

It's only a simple check. For instance my registrar lets me turn it on and off at will. But it's a handy safeguard against accidents and makes you double check.

Didn`t this come about because of a change in the rules, if someone requests to transfer the domain away and you don`t object within 21 days or something then the transfer goes ahead. With the lock the transfer will not go ahead unless you unlock the domain?
