What would cause my primary domain controller to demote itself to seconday dc and the seconday to become the primary by itself? How would I go about switching it back to what it was?

Also, the D: sharename on my primary domain controller changed from what it was to just "X". Weird.

Thanks in advance for any help!!

I would search your security logs for that answer. More than likely someone made a change. Not sure what you mean by a PDC demoting to a secondary and vice versa, unless you are talking about NT.

There are no PDC's and BDC's with 2000, that went away. They're all just DC's that hold certain FSMO roles.

It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.

Are you servers windows NT or 2000/2003?

You only primary/seconday in Windows NT. And for one to get promoted/demoted can only be done by another user. There is no way that it would automatically change.
