I recently changed our web domain and want to chage the email domain so that people will use the new site name. I am a little lost. I want all email to have the new domain extention and want email forwarded from the old name to the new name. I can't find anything to tell me how to change the mailbox name. "new to exchange"

to change the domain extension on your mailboxes, go to the Properties of the Site Addressing container under the Configuration object in Exchange Admin. Go to the Site Addressing tab and change the SMTP value to the new domain.
To add the new domain on your server, go to the IMS Routing tab and insert there as Inbound. Change the old domain to reroute to the new domain.

I changed the domain extension and added it to the server as inbound and now I can not get any mail in or out. what could be the problem?

Did your ISP add an MX record for your new domain? May I ask what your new domain name is so I can check? You should be able to send outbound even without a valid domain though, did you save the old domain name in your IMS?
