Hello
Recently we've found that we can't browse our network from our Hong Kong office by
My Network Places -> Entire Network -> Microsoft Windows Network -> Domain
The error message we get is
"Domain is not available. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions"
The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available"
(I think it's only the last paragraph that's relevant/useful)
Trying the same thing from London (where the PDC emulator is) or from New York produces no errors at all.
Servers in the domain can be reached from Hong Kong via UNC and can be pinged by name and IP address.
We have Spotlight on Active Directory and all the tests from that say our Active Directory (DNS, Replication and so on) is fine.
I don't know what to do next! We do have a WINS server (one of our DCs here in London) but that really shouldn't have a bearing on this.
Why do we need this working? Because without it our Arcserve PC in Hong Kong can't perform its backups.
