doing a action when file is 7 days on a place

hello
we have a burn system with a shared map. people can put files in that map.
i want a script that looks for the files, when they are there for 7 days, the owner of the file, and the administrator must get a email.
the email can be send with a command line mail program like Blat. but how can i check files for how long they are in a directory. ?
