Hi everybody,
we have CrystalReports 8 running on an IIS 5-Server running. The problem is that I can't refresh the reports when accesing via the Internet. CR is collecting the data from an Informix-DB on a UNIX-Server. When I opening the report with CR on the Web-Server local, refreshing works fine. Only the refreshing via the browser doesn't work. I get an "error accesing the Server". Does anybody have an idea what this could be about?

Thanks
Oliver

Is there a permissions problem? IE does the client have rights to login and connect to the data?

If the report has saved data, this may mask the fact that the report is never actually connecting to the database, but showing the saved data. Ken Hamady

I believe permissions shouldn't be the problem. I just put another report for testing on the Web-Server which only generates small amount of data and that works. The other report should generate about 1200 Pages of data, can there be a problem with the amount of data?
Thanks
Oliver

Is one report based on a view or stored procedure? That might require different permissions.

Did you try via browser while on the server?

Unlikely, but size might matter if the report needs access to store a temp file, and doesn't have rights to write the file. Ken Hamady

Hi Ken,
the rport is only based on the database. We try now with active server pages but get the error message that the connection to informix can't be opened. What makes me wonder is that I have one Report even running with a parameter field (without asp) which is running, and I can't find any difference.

Rgds

Sorry, I am stumped.

If two similar things generate different results, the process is to identify and eliminate the differences. You might try running the longer report so that it is smaller and rule out the size issue.

You could try changing the working report slowly into the non-working report, and see where it breaks down. Ken Hamady
