doesnt back up properly

i dont know whts the problem, but it backed up the whole thing 100% only once in 3 months, and all the other time schedueled, it says aborted.
dont know whts going on.
also when i put the backup tape in which is 4 mm, 24GB compressed capacity comes out of the drive pretty qucik.
any help is appreciated.

What kind of tape drive?? (brand, Interal, External) also what OS are you running?

I have had similar problems and had to update the firmware on the tape drive itself. after heavy use the tape heads get screwed up.

I would test it back scheduling a brand new job and just backup a little data to see if it really is the drive or not.. if that works you may need to delete your scheduled job and recreate it. that has happened to me also.

i m using windows 2000 server with external tape drive. we were using 24G capacity 4 mm specification.
i just got one with higher capacity. if i need to use this new one, do i need to tell the program i m changing the tape or not?

No, it does not care..if you have the room it will back it up..
