does W2K+SP2 support SQL server 2000 standard edition?

Hi, all
I have no any experience how to setup SQL server database.
recently, I tried to install SQL server 2000 on my home machine. It seems like W2k+sp2 doesn't support this. Is that true? would anybody give me good website, so I can be guided through this set up process. I want to program againse database.

SQL Server is only supported on Server editions. You need to have the developer version if you wish to install your SQL Server on your Win 2k Pro machine.

I am correct in assuming that you are trying to install standard on a Pro box?

Thanks, Jim, I will get windows 2000 server operating system
and I did want to install SQL Server Standard edition.
As a programmer, do you have a good resource for setup database?
