Does TS Gateway work on windows 2008 standard Ed.?

Hi Everyone,

Quick question..I have successfully setup terminal server on a second windows server 2008 standard edition box, my first box is simply a DC used for authenticating local clients.

In attempting to setup a TS Gateway, I have not been able to successfully setup the gateway properly at all. The problems I am experiencing all relate to certificates and common names.

My question is, should I be looking at windows server enterprise instead of standard edition of server 2008?

No, unless my clients TSGs are falsely working <grin>.

The distinguished name must be in the form of the following when applying for a cert, I used public certs...

machine name.domain name.ext = fs1.fakedomain.com
or machine name.lower level name.domain name.ext=fs1.hq.fakedomain.com

Couple of issue which wasted time...
Ms Patches applications have knocked out communications, until the TSG was rebooted; a couple times it took 3 reboots. Why ?, beats me

Some times changes do or do not take affect through Terminal server gateway manager immediately or until a reboot has occurred, stopping services did not always work...a royal pain if you are making changes via RDP and communications stop. Luckily I also can VPN through Sonicwalls if this occurs, saving me trips to clients when the RDP bombs out as I make changes.
I wanted more security by using a card reader so the Windows passwords are not used, but to date I have not found a a relatively inexpensive solution which works with Windows 2008.

All said, left alone, RDP communications has been rock solid.
