Does anyone know if the refresh option works.

If you click on the devices tab, and then highlight/click your backup device, in the right hand window it will show the media label of the last media in the device.

If you then right click the backup device (left hand window)and click refresh nothing seems to happen, if you highlight the media in the right hand window and then click refresh this does not appear to work either in my experience. Does anyone know how to get the view to refresh, its not critical but it would be handy.

Cheers

Same problem here, 2k server french, be8.6, DLT 20/40 compaq.
I am starting to hate this software, piece of ...
how can they sell such unfinished product?

Join the world -- not only does "Refresh" NOT WORK in the sense of "showing you the tape numbers/labels of the tape (in my case magazine of tapes) --

but as far as I can tell -- the only way to see those tape labels/numbers/titles change TO THE NEW ONE YOU JUST PUT IN

is to select the tape/tapes and manually do an INVENTORY.

Yes -- the led panel of the Sony Autoloaded did its own "inventory" of the new tapes; but Backup Exec screen; whether it was aware of that ction or not;

simply seems to be operating (as far as what tapes are SHOWN) from a cache of the last Inventory that IT (Backup Exec) performed; and the "automatic inventory" of "every time a new tape/cartridge is inserted appears to be meaningless.

Bottom Line for me is : unless a full manual Inventory of a new magazine is done

(we use one cleaning cartridge and 7 data tapes per magazine)

I don't have the slightest idea what tapes are really inthere from looking at that DEVICES screen that lists all the tape labels/names/numbers.

Also; I have seen back-to-back INVENTORIES return a different tape label for the same slot -- when nothing changed -- and Restores that I wanted to; I couldn't because it would say "insert tape such-and-such in slot 7" when the inventory had just told me that

tape such-and-such WAS in slot 7 --

it gets frustrating...
