Does the PC Remote/Upgrade/Backup/Restore automatically upgrade?

We have an 509 R8. I have an old Remote Access PC card that also does upgrade and backup/restore. If i put that PC card in the new R8, will it downgrade it to the version of the PC card?

no, the 509 processor will not downgrade to the R6 and lower firmware and if the card has been used once before it will not even downgrade any older releases, or upgrade.
The silver cards are one time upgrade cards but provide the remote access and with the R7 and R8 you can use any old silver card.
